Construction Field Review and Testing

Reviewing construction for conformance to drawings and specifications is a key component in achieving a high quality product for the end user.

RDH can assist with new construction projects by conducting regular, thorough review of the construction of the building enclosure to ensure conformance with construction drawings and specifications. Our field staff are experienced with building enclosure construction for multi-unit residential, commercial, and institutional buildings. Some of our staff have specialized quality assurance designations, such as Registered Roof Observer (RRO).

We document and track our field observations and note any deficiencies requiring follow-up and monitoring. We prepare and submit site visit reports to the site superintendent after each visit to the site.   The report is then automatically entered and stored in our database.  This database allows current unresolved action items to be listed for each trade, building, or floor and can be printed at any time.  These action lists consist of a historical record of items that were identified during the site visits complete with the date, personnel involved in review, and a digital photograph of each item.  This allows for quick follow-up with individual trades as well as documentation of issues as they arise and as they are completed.

We also regularly perform various on-site tests in our quality assurance role, including:

  • Water penetration testing of glazing assemblies
  • Adhesion testing
  • Membrane thickness testing
  • Air leakage testing, thermographic scanning, and ultrasonic testing if required to help confirm the performance of new assemblies.
