Hygrothermal Modeling

We have the capability to analyze non-standard wall and roof assemblies for thermal and hygrothermal performance (heat, air, and moisture control) utilizing state-of-the-art software (WUFI Pro 5.0).

RDH staff members have distinct training and capabilities utilizing state-of-the-art hygrothermal modeling software. This type of modeling helps in the understanding of coupled heat and moisture transfer across the building enclosure. These tools are used to:
  • Evaluate the performance of proposed roof, wall, and floor assembly designs.
  • Understand how different assembly designs perform under different interior and exterior climate conditions.
  • Perform forensic analysis to understand the cause of failures.

The majority of RDH technical staff have formal training in building science, including several staff that hold master’s degrees with specializations in building science. This training is imperative to understanding coupled heat and moisture transfer and in successfully utilizing and interpreting the results output from analysis software.
