We are regularly called upon to assess why assemblies and components of the building enclosure fail. Whether the failure is blistering of asphalt modified polyurethane roof membranes, condensation in walls, premature fogging of insulating glass units, or leakage of windows and other glazed curtain wall assemblies, RDH has the experience and knowledge to find the root of the problem. We have both field testing and in-house laboratory testing capabilities to support our investigative efforts. We also work with both U.S. and Canadian National testing labs when additional testing beyond our in-house capabilities is required.
Of particular note is our ability to utilize instrumentation (to measure and record temperature, moisture content, relative humidity, surface temperatures, air flow etc.) to assess the complicated interaction of the building enclosure, indoor and outdoor environments, and the building HVAC system.
Our ability to assess not only the technical causes of failures, but the way in which the design and construction process may have contributed to the failure, has resulted in many of our senior staff being retained as experts in litigation.
