  • The Belkin Art Gallery is located on UBC campus.  Wall cladding systems include brick veneer, exposed EPDM, standing seam zinc, and aluminum panels. Roofing systems include a standing seam curved roof and an inverted roofing assembly with an EPDM membrane. Glazing systems consist primarily of aluminum curtain wall in different configurations throughout the building.
  • It houses the third largest public art collection in the province. The Gallery has advanced humidity and pressurization requirements and is maintained at a constant 50% relative humidity and 20Pa positive pressure with respect to the exterior.
  • It was constructed in 1994. Significant water infiltration problems appeared shortly after construction. Some remedial work was performed at that time but it was unsuccessful.
  • RDH was retained by UBC to conduct a condition assessment in 1999. RDH identified systemic water infiltration, air, and moisture-related deterioration problems. As a result, a phased rehabilitation program involving walls, windows and doors, balconies, decks, gutters, and roofs was initiated in 2000.
  • RDH provided design and field review for repairs which included, in Phase 1, roof repairs to the gutters and low-sloped EPDM roofs. Phase 2 repairs were items primarily related to air leakage and incidental water leakage.
