Intrawest Placemaking and Ledcor Properties Inc. were about to embark on a very large development in Hawaii and made policy decision to develop a QA/QC program to help avoid costly project failures for the Hawaii project and all future projects.
As a first step, RDH was retained to examine the history of losses within their current development portfolio. This examination clearly identified three focal points for the development of QA/QC programs; Building Enclosure, HVAC Systems, and Interior Finishes.
Based on these findings, RDH proceeded to develop detailed design and construction Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures for these three aspects of the design and construction process. The Hawaii project is currently underway utilizing many aspects of the QA/QC initiative.
- Review of existing risk avoidance programs
- Review of history of losses
- Development of QA and QC procedures and activity matrix
