Energy Simulation Software

BELA

Building Energy and Loads Analysis (BELA) is an open source, hourly building energy modeling software tool that is easy to use for both engineers and architects during the design of new buildings. This initial version was developed through research at the University of Waterloo under the direction of Dr. John Straube.  Ongoing development continues.

eQuest

Developed by James J. Hirsch & Associates

eQuest (Quick Energy Simulation Tool) is an interface that uses the DOE2 engine to analyse building energy consumption.  The program predicts hourly energy use of a building given hourly weather information and a description of the building.  This program can be used to model energy consumption of new or existing buildings, to simulate different design options and compare energy savings of possible energy efficiency upgrades.
