Smoke pencils or larger smoke generation equipment allow us to visually identify air leakage paths through various assemblies. A common use is to pressurize an interior space and introduce smoke at various interface details. Visual observations of smoke on the other side of the assembly indicate a leakage path and thus, discontinuities in the air barrier.
