There are alternative approaches for achieving air tightness in the exterior walls of buildings. This 4-D build sequence illustrates use of the exterior sheathing membrane (Tyvek) as the primary air tightness element. In addition to the basic approach shown for the main field area of the wall, a key element of an effective air tightness strategy is ensuring continuity at details such as the interface of the wall with the window.
